Now, I’m back at ground zero and my doctor basically said I need to chill out on the meat and eat more vegetables. Ironically, I also got a new job with a fitness software developer, so I feel kind of guilty assisting people with losing weight when I look like I have no problems throwing back a few honey BBQ wings.
I think a lot of people have the misconception that people get fat from eating too much. Sure, you can get fat that way, but from my experience, I think people get fat from doing the opposite; not eating or exercising enough.
See, I don’t eat that much. Most of the time I eat 1 meal a day because I have a really hard time eating period. Breakfast makes me nauseous. The morning clusterfuck smell of grease, meat and eggs and the weight of batter on my stomach from pancakes just makes me want to puke. I can only eat after noon when my stomach has settled and then 1.5 meals per day is good.
However, the downside to this is that this puts me below the recommended 1200-2000 daily calorie intake. Being below this causes the body to swing into “starvation mode” where you basically store fat rather than lose it, because your body doesn’t know when you’re going to eat again, so it slows down your metabolism. Simply, everything you eat “sticks”. Then on top of that, you’re not exercising, so voila, next thing you know, you’re fat.
